Step-by-Step Guide for Dry Brushing Your Body
Step 1: Start with a Clean, Dry Brush and Dry Skin
Make sure your skin is completely dry and your dry brush is clean. Begin in a warm, comfortable environment. Use the instruction guide for step-by-step instructions.
Step 2: Begin at Your Feet
Start at the soles of your feet. Use gentle, upward strokes, brushing from your feet up towards your ankles. Continue moving upward in long, sweeping motions, brushing towards your calves and knees.
Step 3: Brush Up Your Legs
From your knees, continue brushing in upward strokes towards your thighs. Always brush towards your heart to stimulate blood flow and lymphatic drainage. Brush around the thighs and towards your hips, focusing on areas prone to dryness or cellulite.
Step 4: Brush Your Abdomen and Lower Back
In circular motions, gently brush your abdomen in a clockwise direction to aid digestion. Then, brush upwards on your lower back and sides, moving towards your midsection.
Step 5: Arms and Hands
Starting at your hands, brush in gentle upward strokes towards your shoulders. Brush along your arms, focusing on the inner and outer parts. Use long, sweeping motions, and always brush towards your heart.
Step 6: Chest and Upper Back
Gently brush your chest in upward strokes. Be careful around sensitive areas, like your neck and breasts, using lighter pressure. Brush from the chest upwards towards the shoulders and neck, and then brush downwards from your neck back towards your chest. For the upper back, brush from your shoulders downwards towards your mid-back.
Step 7: Finish with the Neck
If you're including the neck, use upward strokes starting at your collarbone and gently brush upwards towards your chin and jawline. Then bring everything back towards your heart.
Step 8: Shower Off
After dry brushing, take a shower to rinse away any exfoliated dead skin cells and open up your pores. Use a natural oil-based soap for extra nourishment.
Step 9: Moisturize and Hydrate
After showering, apply our Body Healing Oil or our Healing Renew moisturizer to lock in moisture and keep your skin soft and glowing. Focus on hydrating areas that tend to be dry or rough.
Dry brushing is a simple yet effective way to support your lymphatic system, exfoliate dead skin cells, and promote healthy circulation. Incorporate this into your routine 2-3 times a week for smooth, glowing skin all year long.
