Step-by-Step Guide for Using a Gua Sha Tool

Step 1: Start with Clean Skin and a Gua Sha Tool
Begin with freshly cleansed skin. Apply a few drops of your favorite facial oil or serum (like my Renew Serum) to help the tool glide smoothly over your skin. This also allows the nutrients from the oil to deeply penetrate your skin as you use the tool.

Step 2: Begin at the Neck
Start by gently gliding the Gua Sha tool up your neck. Hold the tool at a slight angle (about 15 degrees) so that it stays flat against your skin. Start from the base of your neck and move upwards towards your jawline, using slow, gentle strokes. Repeat each stroke 3-5 times, starting in the center of your neck and working outwards.

Step 3: Jawline and Chin
Next, place the tool at the center of your chin and glide it along your jawline towards your ear. Apply light to medium pressure, and use the curved edge of the tool to follow the contours of your jaw. Repeat this 3-5 times on each side.

Step 4: Cheeks
Move to your cheeks and place the Gua Sha tool on the side of your nose. Glide it gently across your cheek towards your ear, following the natural contours of your face. Repeat this 3-5 times on each side to promote circulation and lift the skin.

Step 5: Under Eyes
Use the tool very gently under your eyes, as the skin here is delicate. Starting from the inner corner of your eye, glide the tool outward towards your temple. Keep the tool at a slight angle and use light pressure. Repeat 3-5 times on each side to help reduce puffiness and stimulate lymphatic drainage.

Step 6: Brow and Forehead
Place the Gua Sha tool at the base of your brow bone and glide it upwards towards your hairline. This can help lift the brow and reduce tension. Then, starting at the center of your forehead, glide the tool outwards towards your temple, following the curve of your forehead. Repeat 3-5 times on each side to smooth and relax the skin.

Step 7: Complete with the Neck and Chest
To finish, glide the tool gently down your neck towards your collarbones to encourage lymphatic drainage. You can also use the tool in gentle, downward strokes on your chest to relax tension and improve circulation.

Step 8: Clean Your Gua Sha Tool
After each use, clean your Gua Sha tool with a gentle soap or a natural sanitizing spray, like a witch hazel and essential oil blend. Make sure it’s completely dry before storing it.

Tips for Best Results:

  • Use your Gua Sha tool 4-6 times a week for noticeable improvements in skin tone, texture, and circulation.
  • Always work from the center of your face outward, following the natural contours of your face.
  • Be gentle—there’s no need to press hard. Let the tool do the work while you relax and enjoy the process.

Gua Sha is an ancient technique that promotes blood flow, releases tension, reduces puffiness, and smooths fine lines. It's a wonderful addition to your self-care routine, leaving you with glowing, healthy skin.
